Course Overview:
As concerns about the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus continue to circulate, pharmacists can learn how to get involved in responding to the pandemic by participating in this live webinar. Developed by the American Pharmacists Association specifically for pharmacists this activity will prepare pharmacists to educate their patients about the seasonal and 2009 H1N1 influenza viruses and the importance of vaccination and good hygiene to prevent potential life-threatening disease.

Details about the 2009 H1N1 vaccine will also be discussed, including the logistics of how the vaccine will be distributed, which patient groups should receive the vaccine, and documentation and reporting requirements. After completing this activity, pharmacists will be prepared to respond to frequently asked questions from patients and other health care providers about. Two hours of continuing pharmacy education credit will be available to participants. Each offering will include the latest updates to available information.
 
Learning Objectives:
  • At the completion of this activity, the pharmacist will be able to:
  • Differentiate between 2009 H1N1 influenza virus and seasonal influenza.
  • Describe the prevention and treatment options for 2009 H1N1 influenza virus.
  • Explain how the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus vaccine will be distributed and outline how pharmacists can get involved in vaccine administration in their communities.
  • Outline strategies pharmacists can employee to protect their patients, business, and workforce during a pandemic.
  • Respond to frequently asked questions about 2009 H1N1 influenza virus and seasonal influenza and serve as a resource of information about both.
  • Identify available resources to keep up-to-date with emerging information about 2009 H1N1 influenza virus.

This activity, APhA Preparing Pharmacists to Respond to the 2009 H1N1 Influenza , ACPE 202-000-09-233-L04-P, is approved for 2 hours of continuing pharmacy education credit (0.2 CEUs). There is $25.00 fee to participate in this activity.
To obtain continuing education credit for this program, participants must pre-register online (limited to 500 seats), participate in the entire program, and complete the online program evaluation form within one month after participation in the activity. A Statement of Credit will be automatically generated upon achieving these requirements. Participants can obtain continuing education credit for only one of the five offerings of this webinar.
