"The Skinny on Weight Management" will review current pharmacotherapies for weight loss management. This course will provide information about these challenging healthcare issues and the therapies used to assist patients in meeting their weight-loss goals.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this continuing education lesson, the pharmacist will be able to:
· Describe the epidemiology, socioeconomic impact and pathogenisis of obesity and obesity-related disorders.
· Discuss the efficacy of prescription medication and dietary supplements marketed for weight loss. 
· Summarize clinical trials using novel therapies, such as topiramate and recombinant leptin.
· List the major adverse reactions and interactions associated with medications and supplements used for weight loss.


At the conclusion of this continuing education lesson, the pharmacy technician will be able to:
     
· Describe the epidemiology and pathology of obesity and obesity-related disorders.
· Name one prescription and one over the counter therapy product for weight loss.
· Define the types of questions about weight-loss medications and products that you would refer to the pharmacist.
· List the major adverse reactions and interactions associated with medications and supplements used for weight loss. 

At the conclusion of this continuing education lesson, the Registered Nurses, Advance Practice Nurses will be able to:

• Describe the epidemiology, socioeconomic impact and pathogenisis of obesity and obesity-related disorders.
• Discuss the efficacy of prescription medication and dietary supplements marketed for weight loss.
• Summarize clinical trials using novel therapies, such as topiramate and recombinant leptin.
