At the conclusion of this continuing education lesson, the pharmacist will be able to:
- Summarize the definition, epidemiology, and pathogenesis of restless leg syndrome (RLS).
- Describe the symptoms of RLS.
- Discuss the role of both supportive care & medication for treatment of RLS.
- List the dosages, contraindications, adverse reactions and interactions for medications used to treat RLS.
At the conclusion of this continuing education lesson, the pharmacy technician will be able to:
- List two common symptoms of restless leg syndrome (RLS).
- Name three drugs that are commonly used to treat RLS.
- Cite two examples of supportive care that may benefit patients with RLS.
- List the major side effects associated with levodopa-carbidopa.
