Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this continuing education lesson, the pharmacist will be able to:

  1. Review the evidence that supports or refutes the safety and efficacy of prescription & OTC performance-enhancing substances in athletes.
  2. Highlight common uses, dosages, and precautions for popular performance-enhance supplements.
  3. Describe the major adverse effects, and potential and/or documented interactions with performance enhancing supplements.
  4. Discuss which performance-enhancing supplements are banned and/or should be avoided by all athletes.
