At the conclusion of this continuing education lesson, the pharmacist will be able to:
- Discuss the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis(eczema).
- Describe effective strategies for maintaining skin hydration, controlling and treating associated pruritus, and avoid exacerbating factors.
- Identify short and long term adverse effects of topical and systemic corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors.
- Differentiate between high and low potency topical corticosteroids and Identify dosages and warnings of topical calcineurin inhibitors.
