Dr. Susan Paulsen is an experienced educator with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center where she is responsible teaching Introduction to Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professional Skills Development, Integrated Organ Systems and Comprehensive Patent Care. Additionally, she takes pride in her work with the Preceptor Program. When not acting in an educational role, Dr. Paulsen works with the Integrative Medicine Department, putting an emphasis on the wellness and healing of the entire person, drawing on both conventional and complementary medicine.

Learning Objectives:

  1. State the mechanism of action, efficacy, side effects, drug interactions and contraindications of vitamin A, betacarotene, Bs, C, D, E, Ca, iodine, selenium, Mg and iron.
  2. List the specific dosing regimens for various disease states or prevention of disease.
  3. Discuss the primary literature regarding the benefits and risks of vitamins, minerals and multivitamins.
  4. Review and discuss websites that are truthful and beneficial for pharmacists and patients.
