At the conclusion of this continuing education lesson, the pharmacist will be able to:
- Discuss the epidemiology of essential hypertension and associated complications in the United States.
- Identify the compelling indications that may coexist with hypertension for which certain antihypertensives are preferred.
- Summarize the adverse effects and drug interactions associated with anti-hypertensive medications.
- Demonstrate how consensus treatment recommendations can be applied in pharmaceutical care.
