Presented by Ken Baker, B.S. Pharm, J.D.
Ken Baker, RPh. J.D. is a pharmacist and an attorney. He is currently vice president and general counsel for Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Company, Algona, Iowa. Prior to joining Pharmacists Mutual, Dr. Baker practiced general trial law for 13 years, including three years as a deputy prosecuting attorney. He practiced pharmacy for several years before becoming a lawyer and managed a community chain pharmacy for over four years.
Goals and Objectives:
- Describe and discuss the law of negligence as it relates to pharmacy practice.
- Relate how standards are developed.
- Study case law to determine the development of pharmacists duties.
- Explore and discuss changing duties and claims against pharmacists.
- Review how a case advances through the legal system.
