HIPAA administrative simplification became a reality in April of 2003. This online education course for healthcare professionals offers an overview of HIPAA and how you might see changes related to it in your facility.
This course is approved by ACPE for 1 PHARMACY LAW credit hour.

| Learning Objectives: |
After completing this course the pharmacist will be able to:
- Describe what HIPAA is and what portion of the law was recently enacted.
- Identify who is obligated to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Identify what type of patient communication and information sharing requires compliance under HIPAA.
- Describe what PHI is and why it is important.
- Define 'Notice of Privacy Practices' and 'Minimum Necessary Standard.'
- Describe the penalties for non-compliance with HIPAA requirements.
After completing this course the pharmacy technician will be able to:

With a degree in finance from the University of California at Berkeley, she writes frequently for a variety of healthcare web sites on an assortment of healthcare topics, especially related to breast cancer. Amy has been a consultant in several fields, including healthcare, finance, sales, customer service and training. |
