LMS Frequently Asked QuestionsProducts and Services | Learning Management | CE Services | Employer Solutions | SalesGeneralQ: What is an LMS?A: LMS is an acronym for Learning Management System. RxSchool hosts Learning Management Systems primarily for providers of continuing education. We specialize in pharmacy and other health care related continuing education delivery, but our LMS can be used for any type of continuing professional development. Our clients include accredited education providers, universities and various other health employers, associations and service providers. Q: Is the RxSchool LMS hosted or out-of-the-box software? A: RxSchool is an Application Service Provider and the RxSchool LMS is a hosted web-based application. The advantages of licensing a hosted application include frequent software updates, ease of customization, and lower IT hardware and networking costs, to name a few. Q: What types of educational activities can I manage with the RxSchool LMS? A: The LMS is capable of managing just about every type of educational delivery and related support you can imagine. The base LMS package is suitable “as-is” for most providers, but it can also be customized to manage other aspects of your education business. Q: What is included with the LMS? A: Every LMS package includes two interfaces: a back-end management system for administrators (Admin Console) and front-end delivery system (Web Portal). Distance (Enduring) CoursesQ: Can I host web-based courses with your LMS?A: Yes, our LMS supports most types of on-line delivery and management. You can post programs to your own web portal where participants may view activities, take on-line assessments and evaluations, and generate their own statements of credit. Q: Does your system support streaming media presentations? A: Yes, we support most standard file types, including HTML and Flash based presentations. We can provide you with a complete list of supported file types along with posting procedures. Please contact your sales representative for more information. Q: Can I make PowerPoint presentations, Adobe PDF, or other documents available as part of my programs? A: Rxschool allows you to manually enter (or copy and paste) all content of a course into our editing program for conversion to HTML. You may also make any other documents (approved formats only) available to your participants as part of an educational program. Most standard formats are acceptable. Please contact your sales representative for more information. Q: Can I charge for distance (enduring) activities? A: Yes, our shopping cart system allows you to charge for your programs. You may also offer promotional codes to your participants, which allows them to get a discounted or free program. Live EventsQ: Can participants take evaluations and generate certificates on-line for live events?A: Yes, the LMS has been designed to encourage the end-user (participant) to fill out their evaluations and generate statements of credit (certificates) on-line for any type of live event. Q: Can your LMS support conferences with pre-registration? A: Yes, our system supports pre-registration for all types of Live CE events, including live seminars, conferences, tele-conferences and Internet based Webinars. Attendees may search for upcoming events and pre-register themselves at your own web portal. Q: I charge for my live events. Does your system support paid events? A: Yes, our shopping cart system allows you to charge for your live events. Q: Does the LMS support Live Internet Seminars (Webinars)? A: Yes, since the LMS is web-based and was designed to accommodate any type of live event, it is a natural fit to support Webinar technology. The LMS can support most live classroom technology as well as providing full service Webinars at RxSchool Live. For more information about RxSchool Live, please contact your sales representative. Administrator (Admin) ConsoleQ: Can my staff manage all of our programs in the LMS?A: Yes, we will provide you with accounts for all of your administrators, so they can collaboratively manage your programs through the administrator console. Q: Do you have quiz building functionality? A: Yes, our LMS allows you to build quizzes (assessments) and/or evaluations. You can easily build, edit, archive, and duplicate your evaluations and assessments through the admin console. Q: How does reporting work? A: We provide you with a suite of standard reports that meet most provider reporting needs in a variety of common formats. If you have special reporting requirements, we can build custom reporting for you that is accessible “on-the-fly” through the admin console. Q: What else can I manage in the Admin Console? A: The Admin Console is very functional and provides instant access to all your program information, including user data, course information, event locations, sponsors, speakers and authors, reports, and just about any thing else you need to manage on a daily basis. Web Portals and CustomizationQ: What is a branded web-portal? How is this different from a custom web-portal?A: As part of your LMS license, we will host a “branded” web portal for you. This “branded” educational web portal can contain your logo and color scheme to provide your company with its own branding. Your participants will visit your web portal to participate in programs and access your LMS. For additional fees, RxSchool can develop and host a custom web portal, which is customized to the look and feel of your corporate web site or other custom design to your specifications. Please contact your sales representative for examples of both “branded” and “custom” web portals. Q: What type of functionality is available to participants when they log into their accounts? Do you have a transcript? A: In addition to participating in live and distance CE activities, when they log in to your web portal, participants have access to the RxSchool transcript management system. They can use their transcript to track all of their CE activity, including programs they took with other providers. This “sticky” software is very popular and brings your participants back to your web portal again and again. Q: How does the Web Portal connect to our current website? A: We will provide you with a link that your website administrator may place anywhere on your website. Q: Can we host multiple Web Portals for posting our education activities? A: Yes, the LMS supports multiple front-end web portals. You may manage all of these web portals through a single admin console, picking and choosing which programs are available at each individual web portal. Q: Does the LMS automatically grade post tests? A: Yes, the LMS grades all post tests (assessments) automatically and once the assessment is passed, it will provide the correct answers to the participant. Passing scores and correct answers are entered by the administrator as part of building your assessments in the admin console. Q: Does the LMS support Podcasts? A: Yes, we can work with you to provide Podcast-type downloads from your LMS. Accreditation and Statements of CreditQ: How many types of accreditations does the LMS support?A: The LMS was designed with health care continuing education in mind and it supports any related accreditation type. Individual programs may have multiple accreditations each with a custom statement of credit. Your LMS license includes up to 2 accreditations and 2 custom statements. You may add additional accreditations and statements for additional fees. Q: Does the LMS support “Duplicate” statements of credit? A: Yes, once a statement of credit is printed, all subsequent statements for the same program(s) are marked as “Duplicate”. Q: Can we have multiple programs printed on the same statement of credit, like in the case of a large conference. A: Yes, the LMS can print programs on individual statements or as part of a “multiple” statement of credit. Training and SupportQ: Do you provide training and customer support on your LMS?A: Yes, as part of your LMS implementation, you will receive complete administrator training as well as customer support during regular business hours. RxSchool business hours are Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm, during which time you may feel free to call or email us. We are closed on all major holidays, including the day after Thanksgiving. MiscellaneousQ: Can you customize the software functionality for us?A: Yes, due to our modular design and open architecture, we can usually meet your business needs with cost-effective software customizations. Please notify us of your needs in advance so we can provide you with a timely estimate and delivery. Q: Some of our participants don’t have access to the Internet. Is it possible to manually enter evaluations/assessments and generate statements of credit for these users? A: Yes, manually entering data for participants is possible. Q: Can we send mailings or emails to participants in our LMS? A: Yes, we provide you with the ability to generate contact lists of participants. You are encouraged to only send emails to participants who “opt-in” to your mailings. You are also encouraged to maintain a privacy policy at your web site. Q: Do you offer a software trial? A: Due to the customization and complexity of our LMS, it is not possible to offer trials of our software. However, we are happy to demonstrate our systems in as much detail as necessary to make you comfortable with our systems.
