Presented by Ken Baker, B.S. Pharm, J.D.
Ken is a pharmacist and a lawyer who consults in areas in which he has worked for over thirty years. He has written insurance policies and has designed quality assurance plans to reduce medication errors. Ken has taught pharmacy law and business law and has written and lectured nationally in the areas of risk management, pharmacy law and ethics.
Goals and Objectives:
- Describe the American legal system as it relates to pharmacy practice.
- Describe the concept of negligence and duty.
- Analyze study case law to determine pharmacists duties from a legal perspective.
- Discuss the concepts of liability against pharmacists to determine how pharmacists can protect themselves from legal liability.
- Interpret and describe changing legal standards and their importance to pharmacy practitioners today.
