At the conclusion of this continuing education lesson, the pharmacist will be able to:
- Describe the epidemiology and classification of various types of headaches, such as migraine, tension type, cluster, vascular, and secondary headache
- List several different triggers for headaches, including hormonal, psychosocial, medications, infectious, nutritional and anatomic factors
- Discuss non-pharmacological and pharmacological options used for prophylaxis and treatment of various types of headache disorders
- Describe the mechanism(s) of action, usual dosage, common adverse reactions and interactions of medications used for headache treatment
