Medication Errors Part II: Analyzing the Risks & Starting the Process

Kenneth R. Baker, R.Ph., J.D.

Ken is a pharmacist and a lawyer who consults in areas in which he has worked for over thirty years. He has written insurance policies and has designed quality assurance plans to reduce medication errors. Ken has taught pharmacy law and business law and has written and lectured nationally in the areas of risk management, pharmacy law and ethics.

Learning Objectives
 
At the completion of this program, the pharmacist should be able to discuss:

  1. Understand the steps in the risk management circle.
  2. Explore the blending of risk management and Deming concepts.
  3. Understand how to train employees in the process of quality.
  4. Study best practices ones you know and new ones.
  5. Study process control as part of a quality system.
  6. Review one available quality system w hat to look for in system.
  7. Define continuous quality improvement.
  8. Understand how to gather and use information to reduce medication errors.

This course has been approved by the Florida State Board of Pharmacy to Meet 2 Medical Errors Continuing Education Credits.
