Event Description:

In this session we will discuss the basic pharmacology and various clinical aspects of a number of drugs that were approved by the FDA in 2007. Within this framework we will compare and contrast the newer drugs with other existing drugs in their class.

Learning Objectives:

  1. List three drugs approved in 2007 that are not new molecular entities, but are different dosage formulations of existing drugs.
  2. Discuss possible advantages or disadvantages of new transdermal patch medications compared to their oral dosage forms.
  3. Name two new drugs that are either active metabolites or active isomers of existing drugs.
  4. Understand the mechanisms of action for at least three new molecular entity medications approved in 2007.

Faculty Disclosure:

RxSchool has a Full and Fair Disclosure Policy that requires course faculty to communicate any real or apparent commercial affiliations related to the content of their presentations/materials. Alan P. Agins has nothing to disclose.
