Goals and Objectives

Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

  1. Describe the anatomy and physiology of taste and discuss several causes of taste alteration
  2. List several commercially available medications with relatively poor palatability
  3. List common pediatric medications that are not available in liquid form
  4. Describe oral liquid medication compounding techniques and identify some preferred flavors used to mask salty, bitter, sour, and oily medications
  5. Recognize what flavors are preferred by certain patient populations and for specific drug classes
